GTBank 737 Moments - The Music Video

Image
Whatever you do, wherever you are, there is an easy way for everyone, and it all begins with 737.
Simple Banking for Every Nigerian. GTBank.

'Eskis' me...this is not a sponsored post.

Let me repeat myself. GTBank is not paying me 'wan kobo' for this post...

...but mehn...I'm tripping for the entire concept joor! It's too clean, too correct!

Well done GTBank...that's why I love you guys.

On a more serious note though, this is how a great brand should work. GTBank is a youth-centric bank, full of energy and trendy style. You get every iota of that when you watch this music video promoting their 737 mobile money transfer solution.

A brand should resonate with its target audience, and beyond that, should feel like part of the community. That's exactly what they've done here, by using everyday people, instead of popular celebrity faces, yet still maintaining the excellence that we have gotten to experience with GTBank.

Well done guys!

Alphabet's Google to Train 10 million Africans in 5 years

Image
(from reuters.com) LAGOS (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc's Google aims to train 10 million people in Africa in online skills over the next five years in an effort to make them more employable, its chief executive said on Thursday. The U.S. technology giant also hopes to train 100,000 software developers in Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, a company spokeswoman said. Google's pledge marked an expansion of an initiative it launched in April 2016 to train young Africans in digital skills. It announced in March it had reached its initial target of training one million people. The company is "committing to prepare another 10 million people for jobs of the future in the next five years," Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai told a company conference in Nigeria's commercial capital of Lagos. Google said it will offer a combination of in-person and online training. Google has said on its blog that it carries out the training in languages including Swahili, Hausa and Zulu and t…

Lecrae - Blessings ft. TY Dollar $ign

Image
Head on to YouTube to watch the music video of Lecrae's since featuring the award-winning secular rapper TY Dollar $ign......hold on... He featured a secular rapper? Yes Lecrae did. And that don't mean he has backsliden. If you ask me, it's one way to show secular artistes that you can make a great music video with a great track without all the skimpy women and all that stuff that's so common in secular music nowadays. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/i58IH2D8sWQDon't forget to drop your comments, let the discussion continue. One love. #Andiispice

God's Own Radikals: double track offering: Living My Life & Exceedingly!

Image
I first found God's Own Radikals on one of my many discoveries of new songs online. The song was The Drum Song, off the full-length album 20DOZEN:The Call (2012).
The husband and wife duo that is G.O.R have a second album titled "Under Construction" as well as a 17-track mixtape "Unleashed". They have collaborated with acts like Dr Sankty, Provabs, El Mafrex, Soltune, TB1, Viva, Rapsodee amongst others.
In 2014, the duo G.O.R. released two finely crafted tracks:
Living My Life and Exceedingly! Multiple Award Nominees (2012 Nigeria Gospel Awards, 2012, National Gospel Awards aka The Sceptres and 2013 Crystal Awards) G.O.R. started out in Olabisi Onabanjo University and have continued to make great music that keeps getting better with time, just like fine wine. The duo married to each other carry a burning passion for Nigeria and making positive music that will bless, inspire and motivate people all over the world. At the core of their message is hope, faith a…

Song Review: Na Your Love - FEAL

Image
First impressions matter. So do debut singles. Femi Dexter Alade a.k.a Feal in his debut single "Na Your Love" makes a great first impression. All the more interesting when you learn that he wrote and composed the song himself. This is evidently a result of his extensive experience as a vocal coach and an instrumentalist. Na Your Love was produced by the talented Soulkeys.

1. Intro
The "ta-da, ta-ra" sound quickly sets the tone of the song, alongside the percussion instruments that are distinctly African.  It is easy to start nodding to the beat,  even before the vocals come up.

2. Songwriting/Lyrics
Positive communication is a plus here.  Beyond just being a well-meaning song of praise to God, it is clear Feal took his time to write a song with a classic call-and-response style reminiscent of Fela's songs. His easy-to-remember hooks and refrains add spice to the whole mix. Nice.

3. Instruments
The drums and other percussion instruments set a steady tempo that…
